Background

Born in a small village in Greece, his childhood dream was to go beyond the horizons as contained by the mountains of his village, travel and meet new people and different civilizations.

He graduated from a school in merchant navy engineering in 1959. However, he was forced to abandon the trade he studied for, mainly for two reasons. He could not see himself contained into the engine room of a ship, for prolonged periods of time, and above all he has a very sensitive to loud noise hearing and the engine room was not the ideal working place. He went to Brazil in 1960 and to Canada in 1963. The environment he lived in the early stages of his life played a roll in influencing and shaping his character with all it's defects and qualities as is today.

Dimitri Favvas will not say to people what they want to hear, just to please them or to obtain favourable concessions, if he does not believe it himself. He will not accept doing anything, before he is confident he can do it. Yet he is flexible to listen to other people's suggestions or opinions and evaluate them according to his judgement.

At work, he is always searching for better ways to do things. If there is a problem, he will not give up searching for a solution. He believes that there is room for improvement on every field.
